Riley Abbott is a Clinical Psychologist who works closely with individuals across the lifespan (age 10+). She has a keen interest in the relationship between the brain and the gut and has experience across hospital settings, school settings, private practice, and employment services, where she continues to bring a commitment to holistic, warm, and evidence-based practice.
Riley has a particular interest in the mind-gut connection and the role of the nervous system in both emotional wellbeing and gastrointestinal function. She also has a strong interest in supporting individuals experiencing disordered eating in the context of gastrointestinal symptoms, as well as those with diagnosed eating disorders. Riley works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support clients in developing a healthier relationship with food, their bodies, and themselves.
Her clinical approach is grounded in a compassionate, holistic, and collaborative style, and she draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Motivational Interviewing, Schema Therapy, Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy (GDH), and Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-E) for eating disorders.
Riley completed her Master of Psychology (Clinical) at the University of Tasmania and holds endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist through AHPRA. She holds a Certificate in Clinical Hypnotic Sciences and is an accredited eating disorder clinician through ANZAED. She is also a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
With experience delivering psychological therapy to adults, children, and adolescents, as well as conducting comprehensive psychological assessments, Riley is passionate about tailoring care to the unique needs of each individual she works with. She values creating a warm, safe, and collaborative therapeutic environment that supports meaningful and lasting change
